This coming Tuesday, November 3, 2026, is election day in the United States, and the race for Governor in New York has an incredible Beatles connection. New York Governor Kathy Hochul, a Democrat, is running for reelection against her Republican challenger Bruce Blakeman.

Bruce Blakeman was married to Nancy Shevell (Mrs. Paul McCartney) for 23 years before they had an amicable divorce. Nancy Shevell and Sir Paul McCartney married in 2011.

Sir Paul is the stepfather to Blakeman and Shevell’s son, Arlen. Blakeman has spoken highly of McCartney, saying that he treats his son well. Blakeman has also stated that he and the ex-Beatle do not discuss politics. Blakeman is both a friend and political ally of Donald Trump.

The Long Island Republican admits that it’s ‘surreal’ his ex-wife married Paul McCartney.
